Inventory Accountant

The inventory function at Eucalyptus - one of the fastest growing startups in Sydney - is getting an upgrade and we're looking for a special kind of accountant...

Sydney, Australia

Why join Eucalyptus?

We are building the future of accessible, patient-centric healthcare right here in Australia!

In just 2 years, we've grown to over 100 000 patients across 3 companies. Blackbird, who invested in us, put us among the fastest-growing companies they have ever funded.

What do we do, exactly?

Well, we have built a technology platform to deliver healthcare to Australians with a level of care and depth that brings healthcare into the internet age. We plug into doctors, specialists and pharmacies from all over the country, and our brands (Pilot, Kin and Software) cater for different demographics.

How do we work?

Things move quickly here. We like to set goals with the mindset that if we hit them all we haven’t challenged ourselves enough. You’ll be surrounded by a world-class team of thinkers, designers, engineers and leaders who are obsessed with three things:

  1. The health and wellbeing of the average person
  2. Creating personalised, engaging, convenient user-experiences
  3. Making healthcare fun and interesting (because it is)

The organisation is flat and decision making happens regularly and rapidly at every level of the org. We believe too many chefs spoil the broth and ultimately people are given the freedom to make decisions (and mistakes), and learn from the journey. Ultimately, we believe ideas are cheap and execution is more important than anything.

Why you'll thrive here

We want to set you up for success from day one, ensuring you’ll thrive here because you’ll:

About Kin

Kin is a portfolio company of Eucalyptus.

Fertility feels like an unfinished project for modern women. While attitudes are shifting around a woman’s right to control her own body, the topic of fertility is still laced with taboo and fear. For many, fertility is still a black box. It’s something most don’t think or talk about until it suddenly becomes all-consuming. At that point, we’re left to navigate a confusing maze of misinformation and a fragmented healthcare system.

The fertility journey isn’t always easy or straightforward.

We want to change that.

So we’re re-imaging and building what the ideal fertility experience should be.

At Kin, our mission is to empower women to own the decisions around their bodies and their fertility. We’re building a brand around helping women better understand their fertility and reproductive health, and becoming their own best health advocates.

If you have a passion for improving women’s health and are keen to make an impact, then we hope we’re the place for you.

Job description

Inventory Accountant would have three key areas of responsibility

1. Inventory Financial Modeling and Forecasting

This area will drive the predictive modeling and purchase schedules for our pharmacy partners and internal operations.

Why is it important?
We are going through a period of rapid growth! Our operations scale as we grow, but with larger ranges of products comes complexity and longer lead times. Ability to forecast and plan are critical to our abilities to meet expectations from new and repeat customers.

Typical Tasks

2. Inventory Financial Reporting

This area makes sure that our inventory and accounting systems are counting the right things, at the right time and price.

Why is it important?

Although the volumes of our own finished inventory are in their infancy, we have a number of brands (3 so far and growing) and a number of storage locations, making sure that inventory and components are properly reflected in our financial reports is another critical task.

Typical Tasks

3. Management and Partner Reporting

This area focused on driving key insights into performance and SKU level reporting.

Why is it important?

There is also a great deal of customer insight that can be gleaned from how each SKU performs, how customers interact with different products, how bundled products are frequently sold together. On the operational side, inventory means $$$ so keeping a keen eye on the effect of purchasing, sales and cash is a must for a best in class function.

Typical Tasks

Experience required

You have hands on experience managing inventory and costing systems in a manufacturing or a high volume setting.

You have a deep understanding of how inventory works, it’s an area with endless subtleties. Knowing what buttons to push to spit out a report won’t cut it, you actually need to understand how it gets constructed and why.

You are natural with technology, we run a paperless accounting function and use a lot of cloud apps.

Nice to haves

Commenced CA/CPA qualification

Knowledge of these systems is a plus

We don’t have a high volume of foreign POs, but experience in FX inventory purchases is beneficial.

We don’t do heavy manufacturing (ie driver cost pools), but understanding how a simple assembly process works is good to have.
